Our Christmas party at the Hofstadl in Gossau was a truly wonderful occasion again this year. A festive and relaxed atmosphere arose right from the aperitif, and we were able to start a cozy evening together. ✨🥂 There was lots of laughter, conversation, and enjoyment over the fondue chinoise. In the area of logistics, we were able to complete two more projects with which I am very satisfied. Administration: The existing logistics office in Hall W was expanded, renovated, and updated to today's standards. This created an ergonomic and bright workspace that is ideal for the well-being of our logistics managers. Picking area (Hall W): By using roller conveyors in the picking area (Hall W), we were able to make the workflow more efficient. With the old procedure, the picker had to get off the forklift and prepare the pallet. They had to take a new pallet, get the frame and place it on the pallet, and finally, a sheet of cardboard.

Our pension fund is again paying interest “above the mandatory”

Last year (2022) was a tough year for most pension funds. Ours, FUTURA, also lost a lot of its reserves (although it always had enough money). This year, FUTURA was able to really get back on track: It was able to build up reserves again. And it has money available again with which it can pay interest on our savings. More than it should. We generate electricity! – New display at the site entrance shows the current output of our photovoltaic system

Dear Colleagues, Today we installed a display at the site entrance. It shows the current output of our photovoltaic system. This is the system that converts solar energy into electricity. But what does it actually show? Specifically, we have a system output of 442 kilowatt peak (kWp). It consists of 1,924 modules or 3,146 m². Sounds like a lot of numbers, right? Wednesday was not a normal day at work for the apprentices. To get to know each other better and simply because it's fun, the apprentices were able to plan an excursion together. The apprentices chose a day at Europa-Park. It is important to Steinemann AG to offer apprentices quality training. Dear colleagues, Between 2020 and the end of 2022, many Steinemann AG employees were less sick or absent due to non-work-related accidents. Our logistics were able to handle the jumbo rush and are back up to date!

In logistics, we have now managed to ship the high number of jumbo orders. Many thanks to everyone involved! Last week, we had a large volume of orders in Hall B. There was a peak of more than 2,500 orders that needed to be processed. We recognized early on that we couldn't manage the work with overtime alone. We quickly decided to work in two shifts in Hall B. We hired two additional temporary employees. After a few changes, we found the right employees and were able to get started. The pressure on our employees was high.

Due to many large orders for Jumbo, we have decided to operate in two shifts in Hall B starting next week. This means we will now work mornings and afternoons. Convacc has won a major contract at ITMA. ITMA is the world's largest trade fair for the textile machinery industry. The first version of the offer was presented 13 years ago. The purchase agreement was negotiated and concluded at the trade fair the day before yesterday! Dhanar Mas Concern, a weaving mill with 208 looms in Bandung, Indonesia. During the hardware trade fair, we held a competition. Participants were asked to estimate the correct number of spacers in a box. It was exciting to see who could estimate the best. The heating energy saving measures have been completed

We, too, have done our part to alleviate the energy crisis. We followed the Federal Council's recommendations and set the temperatures in Halls B and W to 19°C and in the office to 21°C this winter. Thank you for your understanding. This reduced our heating oil consumption by 31,000 liters in 2022 compared to 2021. We've also become more familiar with our heating system: We now know how to regulate the temperature in the office and how to set the nighttime and weekend temperature reductions. This will help us save energy in the future.

Energy saving measures implemented – complete success!

Bert replaced all the halogen lamps in Halls W and B. We replaced over 1,000 old lamps (such as fluorescent tubes, gas-pressure lamps, and halogen lamps) with 500 new LED lamps or floodlights. The new lamps are much brighter and distribute the light optimally, allowing us to work better. The lamps are easier on the eyes and consume less electricity. The investment cost approximately CHF 70,000. We save 100,000 kilowatt hours of electricity annually. That's as much as 20 single-family homes consume in a year.
